ATLANTA – July 17, 2015 – Roszell Gadson, APR, is the recipient of the July 2015 Chapter Champion Award from the Georgia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America ( This award recognizes his dedicated volunteer work for the Chapter.

Gadson joined the PRSA Georgia Chapter in 2009 and has served on the Chapter’s Membership Committee for more than two years. In addition, Gadson has coordinated several PRSA in Your Neighborhood events, which offer after-hours networking opportunities around the city for public relations professionals, and he has served on the Chapter’s Professional Development Committee. Gadson has also served as an APR (Accredited in Public Relations) mentor and Readiness Review panelist to assist public relations practitioners pursuing the credential.

According to Gadson, PRSA is an outstanding resource for professionals. "I quickly learned the value of being involved in professional organizations when I worked as a broadcast journalist,” says Gadson. "As a public relations professional with State Farm, the Georgia Chapter of PRSA has been a great resource, and I enjoy being engaged with other industry professionals,” he says.

Gadson spent more than a decade in various media markets around the country as a television news reporter and anchor. For the past six years, he has worked in Public Affairs with State Farm®, the nation’s largest home and auto insurer, and is currently responsible for Media Relations in several southeastern states. The Gadsden, AL, native holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Broadcast Journalism and Psychology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and received his APR in 2010.

Because of this type of volunteerism and commitment, the Georgia Chapter ranks as the second-largest chapter in the nation and has been recognized for its best membership practices among PRSA chapters across the country.

PRSA Georgia ( consists of more than 900 professionals throughout Georgia. Its mission is to enhance the profession, provide continuing education and offer networking opportunities for its members. The Chapter has regular monthly meetings and seminars, an Annual Conference and annual Real World PR collegiate conference day.

The Chapter includes eight Special Interest Groups (Corporate and Employee Communications, Healthcare, Independent Counselors, Leader Board, Nonprofit, Technology, Travel and Tourism, and Young Professionals) that meet at various times. It also supports 10 PRSSA (student society) groups at the following colleges: Berry College (Rome), Clark Atlanta University (Atlanta), Columbus State University (Columbus), Georgia College & State University (Milledgeville), Georgia State University (Atlanta), Georgia Southern University (Statesboro), Kennesaw State University (Kennesaw), Savannah State University (Savannah), University of Georgia (Athens), and University of West Georgia (Carrollton).
